HISTORY

The match for Supercup Bulgaria was performed for the first and only time in 1989. In the beginning of this year, Kiril Zaharinov, head of sports editorial of BTA suggested BFU to organize a match between the champion of the country and the winner of the Cup of Bulgaria. The rule was, that in case when the champion is also the winner of the Cup, then the champion and the finalist for the Cup play. On 24th May 1989 in the town of Pleven, at “Slavi Alexiev” stadium, 18 000 viewers watched the match for the final of the tournament for the Cup of Bulgaria between “Chernomorets” (Burgas) and CFKA Sredec. The result was 0:3.
The scorers were: M.Kostadinov (44th minute), Stoichkov (55th) minute, L.Tanev (59th  minute). The judge was St. Chakarov.
After this match, the match for Supercup Bulgaria ’89 was between the same teams – “Chernomorets” (Burgas) and CFKA Sredec. It was performed in Burgas with 25 000 viewers. The score was 0:1, scorer Hr. Stoichkov (17th minute), judge N.Tahtanjiev. The teams included the following players:
“Chernomorets”: Sheytanov,  Kralev (Atanasov), Stoyanov, Petrov, Kostov, Yankov, Ivanov (Ganev), Petkov, Lubenov (Yovchev), Manushev (Alexandrov), Chilibonov (Donev).
CFKA “Sredec”: Il. Vylov, M. Dimitrov (St.Bachev), Tr. Ivanov, P. Vitanov, D.Maldenov, K.Yanchev, M.Kostadinov (D.Donev), Hr.Stoichkov (Ant. Dimitrov), L.Penev, M.Bakalov, Iv. Kirov (Urukov). Coach – D. Penev.
